So in order to turn this fantasy into a reality, I have learned a sliding scale of your goal leads to greater success than feeling like you fail all the time when you set goals that are too ambitious for where you are currently at in life. By the way this little rule for building habits and tackling your goals applies to everyone not just me.
So go follow and click here on instagram or YouTube links to go watch the self care tips, but if you are reader like myself here are the 9 self care tips packed in to one little blog to kick of 2024 brought to you by your Local Yogini Beekeeping Witch Goddess, Traci Mitchell aka Trakananda.
The first 9 Self Care Tips for 2024 brought to you by Do Yoga Do You:
Self Care tip #1:Ground Your Self while you journal.
Grounding is the easiest and cheapest way to help regulate your nervous system and raise your vibration. Don’t believe me, when was the last time you took of your shoes and socks and stuck your feet on the cold earth. It’a quite invigorating and you really only feel the benefits if you make this tip a ritual. On a nice sunny day, this might be the fastest way back to taking care of yourself this year.
Self Care tip #2: Get outside Everyday, especially in the sun.
Plus, If you are grounding outside then self care tip number two comes automatically. So if you go do number 1, number 2 typically follows, haha no bathroom potty joke intended, but it’s pretty common one usually goes pee when you poo, hahah, ok I am getting carried away, back to the self care tips.
Self Care tip #3 – Drink More Matcha, Slowly.
Matcha is a new thing in my life but I really enjoy it, it has nice earth blend and it’s a great way to connect with Mother Earth. Also it’s a mellow caffeine , so it’s a great way to reduce your coffee intake while always having something nice to sip on that is not going to give you the jitters. Matcha is in fact a form of green tea.
Here is what Chat GPT had to tell me on this to clear things up with the difference between the two:
- Traci asked Chat GPT: Is matcha form of green tea? Are they the same thing?
- Chat GPT: Yes, matcha is a form of green tea. However, they are not exactly the same. Matcha is a powdered green tea, made from shade-grown tea leaves. It has a distinct flavor and is often used in traditional Japanese tea ceremonies.
- Traci: And green tea is just the leaves from the same plant?
- Chat GPT: Exactly. Green tea is made from the leaves of the same tea plant, Camellia sinensis, but it involves steeping the leaves in hot water rather than grinding them into a powder like matcha. The preparation methods result in differences in flavor, texture, and appearance between green tea and matcha.
Self Care tip #4 – Be Still, Go Inward.
Going inward, is the most important self care tip I will ever give you. If you don’t take time to be still and go inward you at some point will get lost in the outward motion of repeating who you currently are over and over especially if you don’t know what you are seeking in life. Meditation brings you peace and stillness but also healing and clarity. This tip especially when performed outside in the sun on Mother Earth will be the greatest form of healing and self care ritual you will ever provide yourself. Go for it, do nothing for at least 5 minutes to day.
Self Care tip #5 – Make & Drink Your Own Bone Broth
And Freeze it too so you always have a collagen boost on hand. Saving rotisserie chicken meat and using soup bones from our 1/4 cow purchase has become one of my favorite rituals I do on new moons and/or full moons or whenever I am over flowing with frozen chicken carcasses in my fridge, I make a batch. It’s easy all you need is a salt, pepper, fresh water, and some herbs, a crock pot and some time. I’ll make a how to make your own bone broth video soon…
Self Care tip #6 – Brush your teeth softly, and with non-toxic toothpaste.
Bonus points if you say 8 prayers, pray for your self and your homies, ironically this also takes about 2 minutes. I have tried making my toothpaste before but I wasn’t very successful. I will try again I am sure in the future but until then I needed a reliable company that I trust and I choose Bite. I am not sponsored or affiliated with them but I do love their brand. No more paste, just a little tablet, add water to your toothbrush and bam you have a nice tasting, non-toxic toothpaste, they also make soft bamboo compostable toothbrushes and they ship their products zero wast carbon neutral packaging. So they are high on my books of companies I like to support with my holistic lifestyle .
Self Care Tip #7 – Always be learning new things, our human bodies are designed to be creative until the day we die.
I have a basic acronym I try to accomplish everyday. M.Y.W.R.D. it stands for Meditate.Yoga.Write.Read.Draw. So far I have done everything but draw and I just got this new leather drawing cover that is so special to me and I want to continue to draw Boomer’s world but big goal of the year for boomer is a new Boomer’s World herbal Tarot Deck. I can’t wait to finish it. So do anything, read, get into carpentry, take a beekeeping class, learn how to grow microgreens, open up your lotus and go for it this year. My biggest suggestion is start today or you’re more than likely not going to start tomorrow.
Self Care Tip #8 – Eat more Quality Protein everyday Peeps!
So how much protein is enough?
According to chat GPT , The optimal daily protein intake can vary based on factors like age, activity level, and health goals. As a general guideline, many experts recommend around 0.36 grams of protein per pound of body weight. (My calculation for my body weight is .36g – .5 x 140lbs , is 50 to 70 grams each day) or However, individual needs may differ, and it’s advisable to consult with a healthcare or nutrition professional for personalized advice.

Self Care Tip #9 – Take time to Sit and Meditate Everyday.
5 mins is fine but go for the magic # of 17mins aka “The Ziva Method” created by another badass Emily, Emily Fletcher and her book Stress Less, Accomplish More , taught me her coined meditation of 2 minutes of intentional breathing, I like to do alternate nostril breathing and then 13 mins of clearing your mind with no thoughts or use a mantra to help you keep your attention just on your breath and the empty space that exists if we become still and the last 2 minutes are for visualizing your dream life. Get creative what is your soul calling you, if we don’t know what we want out of our journey some one else will tell you how to do it.
Always chase your happiness with peace & love in your heart and you will find your freedom.
